Peg City Car Co-op at Nuit Blanche!

Share

Mark your calendars, Winnipeg.
Peg City Car Co-op has a very fun project in the works for Nuit Blanche this year.

Saturday, September 30, 2017  – “Keep Me Awake”, a storytelling shuttle experience.

On buses, commuters overshare to lighten their load.
In taxis, strangers let details of their day out of their mouths like fireflies: in bright, short bursts.
On airplanes, passengers confide their fears, shining light into the darkness.
In cars, we fight the urge to sleep, and beg: “Please. Keep me awake.”

As part of the ‘Illuminate the Night’ open call, with generous support from the Winnipeg Arts Council, we’re opening our car doors to patrons, presenting four micro-plays woven together by local playwright, Frances Koncan.

Frances Koncan is an emerging Anishinaabe writer and director from Couchiching First Nation. She holds an MFA in Playwriting from the City University of New York Brooklyn College and a PhD in love from the School of Tinder. Next up, she’ll be directing “Savage in Limbo” for the Master Playwrights Festival, and working on a new play, “Women of the Fur Trade”, a 100% historically accurate dark comedy satirical musical about smallpox, colonial displacement, and the Hudson’s Bay Company. She is a Taurean vegetarian and currently lives in Winnipeg with her dog, Tucker. She may or may not be a ghost.

More details to come…
