You’ve Got a FLO Pass, Here’s How To Use It

Check Oil Levels Daily on a Road Trip

The oil level should be between the two dots or the maximum/minimum line and have a translucent amber colour. If you notice a significant drop in oil level or a change in colour, please get in touch with us.

We may recommend getting a small bottle of oil to replenish the vehicle as you go, or ask you to get an oil change in the course of your road trip.

this diagram shows the different oil levels and colours. It's important to check oil levels daily while on road trips. The oil should be a translucent amber cover with the oil line between the first and second dot.

Use the tire pressure gauge located in the glove compartment to check the tire pressure. You may need to top up the air during your road trip. More air isn’t necessarily better. Optimal pressure levels can be found on the sticker in the driver’s side door jam. We’ve got a video tutorial on checking tire pressure for you here.

Check for any possible warning signs of a compromised tire, such as a bulging sidewall or a bald spot on the tread. If these defects are found, it is better to swap the tire for the spare tire than to risk a blowout on the highway.

Watch for Engine Codes or Dash Warnings

Some engine codes are not serious and can be left for Peg City staff to inspect when you return, but others may leave you stranded if left unattended. The best course of action is to call our phone number between 7 am and midnight to get advice from our staff. We can read engine codes using our back-office software and remotely diagnose any issues. From there, we’ll instruct you on whether to continue on your way or visit the nearest auto repair shop for a deeper investigation.

Listen for Noises While Driving

Pay attention to noises while driving. Even if the car is driving fine, it’s a good idea to intermittently turn off the music and fans and listen for any unusual noises the vehicle makes. Whirring noises could indicate a defective wheel bearing. Clunking noises could indicate a problem with the suspension. Noticing these issues sooner rather than later will help to limit damage. Report any noises you hear so that we can address them before they become more serious.

If You Encounter Problems on a Road Trip

Rather than trying to figure it out yourself, give our staff a call during our on-call hours between 7 am and midnight. We will advise on the best action to get you moving. In the event of a breakdown, we can assist you by dispatching roadside assistance or a tow truck to your location anywhere in North America.

If your Peg City vehicle needs to be inspected by a repair shop, we’ll ask you to stay with the car until the problem has been diagnosed and we have information on how long it’ll take to repair the vehicle. Once that information is in our hands, we can provide instructions on how to get you on your way.

In Closing
