Peg City Car Co-op Launches on Bike to Work Day!

Share

Peg City Car Co-op supplements a lifestyle of living without cars – by providing occasional access without the regular hassle of owning them. It is no coincidence then that we launched on Bike To Work Day, June 24th 2011. Now every day can be Bike to Work Day in Winnipeg.

Minister of Labour and Immigration and Fort Rouge MLA Jennifer Howard raises her coffee mug to celebrate the Car Co-op’s launch

At launch we own three vehicles and have well surpassed our goal of 36 members. Thanks goes out to the efforts of our tireless Board and the continuous support of our membership – without their initial interest we would not have been able to be where we are today.

This project has been years in the making! Thank you for the grants received from:

and a loan guarantee from The Jubilee Fund.

The help and advice from Manitoba Housing and Community Development, Cooperative Development Services, SEED Winnipeg, Canadian Co-operative Association, Green Action Centre, and Assiniboine Credit Union. And to Canada Safeway for the donation of a parking spot and refreshments at the launch.

We are also excited to join the ranks of such incredible services as modo. the car co-op, Grand River CarShare, and Victoria Car Share Co-op, and appreciate all of their support and sharing of well-established knowledge.

Thanks also to our partnerships with Daniel McIntyre St. Matthews Community Association, CAA Manitoba, Winnipeg Social Purchasing Portal, Winnipeg U-Drive, and Stonebridge Development Corp.

Continue to check out these supporters and and many others found on our Funders & Partners page.
